India A Cruise to Victory over Nepal in ACC Emerging Asia Cup
Yash Dhull’s India A team secured a comfortable win over Nepal in their second group game of the ACC Emerging Asia Cup 2023. Led by an outstanding performance from Nishant Sindhu with the ball and a dominant batting display from the openers, India A successfully chased down Nepal’s total of 168 with 9 wickets in hand. The victory propels India A to the top position in Group B, surpassing Pakistan A, after winning two consecutive matches in the tournament.
Heading into the game, India A was already considered the favorites, having previously won their match against UAE A in a similar fashion. The team showcased a well-rounded performance in all departments. Dhull’s side proved to be too strong for Nepal, as they folded the opposition for 167 runs. Nishant Sindhu played a pivotal role, taking four wickets, including the important dismissal of Nepal’s captain, Rohit Paudel, who scored 65 runs. Paudel was the lone standout performer in Nepal’s innings, as none of the other batsmen managed to surpass 40 runs.
Chasing the modest target, India A got off to a fantastic start with Sai Sudharsan and Abhishek Sharma at the crease. The pair toyed with the Nepalese bowlers, forging a commanding 139-run partnership. Sharma fell agonizingly close to a century, dismissed by Paudel on 87. However, Dhruv Jurel stepped in and, along with the unbeaten contributions of Sudharsan (58) and Jurel (21), guided India A to victory in just 22.1 overs.
India A’s comprehensive win against Nepal in the ACC Emerging Asia Cup highlights their dominance and strong form in the tournament.
