Former Minister Surjeet Singh Slathia Inspires Youth at Thrilling Conclusion of District Samba SoftBall Championship
Former Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party vice president of Jammu and Kashmir, Surjeet Singh Slathia, expressed his delight at the increased participation of youth in various sports disciplines, emphasizing that they should not limit themselves to traditional games alone. Slathia made these remarks during the closing ceremony of the District Samba SoftBall Championship held at Birpur Bari Brahmana.
Speaking at the event organized by the Samba SoftBall Association under the ‘My Youth My Pride’ initiative, Slathia highlighted the career opportunities and overall personality development that sports can offer to young individuals. He encouraged the youth to actively engage in sports alongside their academic pursuits.
In the championship, Birpur Warriors Club emerged victorious in the men’s category, while JCC Gurha Slathia secured the top spot in the women’s category. The Dragon Club and Birpur Club were awarded the runner-up trophies in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively.
Slathia urged the youth to hone their skills and aim to make a mark in national and international sports events. He acknowledged the efforts made by both the central and Jammu and Kashmir administrations in creating a robust mechanism to support and encourage talented sportspeople, providing them with opportunities, coaching, and avenues to showcase their capabilities on a larger stage.
Expressing confidence in the talent pool of young athletes, Slathia stated that with the right opportunities and support, they have the potential to shine in the sports arena of the country. He emphasized that events like the District Samba SoftBall Championship play a crucial role in identifying and nurturing talent, preparing them for bigger challenges and achievements in the future.
The event was attended by prominent personalities such as Raja Wasim, General Secretary of the SoftBall Association, J&K; Padam Dev Singh, President of the SoftBall Association Samba; and Sudhir Singh, District Secretary of Samba.
